(tw: rape culture)
SAY NO TO RAPE CULTURE AT DISNEY!
PLEASE REBLOG if you think you have followers that would be interested in spreading this. I don’t usually ask people to reblog, but we need to spread the petition!
HERE IS THE PETITION
This is how it starts out:
(trigger warning for content)
“To be honest, I feel more violated by the way Disney treated me than I feel from being raped, and I’m worried for every other person that has been in my situation.”
-Dana Wierzbicki
In this petition, we are requesting that Disney:
A) Apologize to Dana Wierzbicki for her experience with their inadequately trained staff
B) WDW make changes to their policies so that any future victims receive adequate care, counseling and advice, and are treated respectfully during this process.
C) WDW ensure that all program participants are given standard, verbal discussions of appropriate contact with other staff (getting consent, not ignoring a lack of consent)
The original article is here. http://www.xojane.com/it-happened-to-me/disney-rape
Below is the type of treatment she received from individuals who were supposed to be there to help her.
To quote the article:
“Well, now you know not to be hanging around boys in the middle of the night. You know what they want.” (Employee assistance counselor)
”She continued to make excuses for my rapist. She asked where he was from and I told her, “France.” She remarked that “cultural differences” were probably part of the problem, telling me that the French have a “different view of love” than we Americans do.” (counselor again)
“Are you sure you’re not reporting this as a rape because you wanted him to be your boyfriend and he said no?” (employee relations)

I’ve been following this and it’s really disgusting how they treated her, and the victim blaming is all too so personally familiar to me, and this came from Disney employees who were supposed to HELP her.
Even if these were just individual bad actors, Disney needs to act to make sure that they have adequate policy and training in place to prevent future assault victims in their employ from being treated like this when they need help.
Signal boosting for people who might care and want to sign the petition.

I felt the need to have a second go at drawing Robin.
I like this one better, I think.
Edit:
Just thought maybe I should add a note about the inspirations here.
A bit of Joan Jett, a smidge of Debbie Harry, a little Nina Hagen, my sister’s jeans from the 80’s, and a couple things out of my own closet.

needs more acne.

Oops, my finger slipped. I’m gonna submit this to him after I post this. Anywho, the guy on the very right is Tuck from Generator Rex, you should know the other two. If you don’t than they are Jake Long (American Dragon: Jake Long) and Zuko (Avatar: The Last Airbender).

Also Ruffio.

Wreck-It Ralph - First Poster

OK, this looks fun. “Wreck-It Ralph” tells the story of a 9-foot tall, 643-pound video game villain (voiced by John C. Reilly) who spends his days destroying buildings in a “Rampage” style game. His nemesis is the games’ titular hero, “Fix-It Felix” (Jack McBrayer), who cleans up Ralph’s destruction and gets the glory. Frustrated by decades of playing the villain, Ralph ventures out into the arcade’s other games to show that he can be a hero too. In addition to Reilly and McBrayer, the film will feature the voices of Jane Lynch as a sergeant in a Halo-like first-person shooter and Sarah Silverman as a race car driver from a candy-themed cart racing game. We can also expect a parade of cameos from classic video game characters (including Bowser from “Super Mario Bros.” and a ghost from “Pac-Man”). “Futurama” vet Rich Moore directs the film, out in theaters Nov. 2nd.

Story artist internship program at Disney ->>

canoftoast:

rufftoon:

This may be of interest to some of you just finishing school (or who have finished school). You can also check out other internship positions at the company. Get your portfolios ready quick, the deadline is very close!

EDIT: There are also job openings, for non students.

https://careers.disneyanimation.com/job_groups/

I REALLY want to, but the site is not letting me do anything. :(

Wait, I think Chrome might be the problem. I was able to access it in Safari.

I was in Test Track’s tower the other day speaking with one of our maintenance men. I asked him if he would continue working on Track while we are undergoing our refurbishment.
“No, they’re sending a bunch of us to California to go work on some new similar attraction there.”
I got really fan girl excited and jealous at the same time.
I wanna’ go to Carsland :(

FUUUUCK! UPDATE DISNEY WORLD IN FLORIDA WITH THIS SHIT!
